Sn0wbreeze is an application or tool written specifically for the Windows Operating System (OS) to perform similar jailbreaking functions on the iPad, iPhone, and iPod to the PwnageTool written for the Mac OS X OS. The Sn0wbreeze tool lets you active an iPhone, set root partition sizes, build custom firmware for your Apple device, set a custom boot logo (anyone find the standard Apple one boring?), and install SSH on your mobile Device. Although it is not quite as well-known as the PwnageTool, the Sn0wbreeze app is one of the most well-known programs that performs the above functions for those who use Apple mobile devices but do not have a computer running OS X.
What Devices Does Sn0wbreeze Support?
At the time of this writing, the Sn0wbreeze app supports the following Apple devices:
- iPhone 3G, 3GS, and iPhone 4
- iPad
- iPod Touch 2G (MC & MB)
- iPod Touch 3G
- iPod Touch 4
How Does Sn0wbreeze Work?
The developer of Sn0wbreeze is iH8sn0w. The current version of the software works with all devices that are on iOS 4.1 to include the iPad iOS 3.2.2. The Sn0wbreeze application works pretty similar to the PwnageTool in that it lets you create a custom firmware for your Apple product. While it does this, the baseband is preserved for the device and it also lets you unlock the phone. The use of the software is very similar to the PwnageTool.
What Are the Latest Sn0wbreeze Features?
Sn0wbreeze 2.5.1 and newer now support custom boot animation for the user’s mobile Apple device. The current version of the software also supports an untethered jailbreak of iOS 4.3.1 along with including the following changes to the code base:
- Cydia 1.1.1 comes pre-installed with the software package.
- Apple TV DFU instructions and afc2 * Apple TV 2 are included and supported with the software.
- Ipad 06.15.00 baseband can be flashed by iPhone 3GS users.
- Previous YouTube issues are corrected.
- Error 37 previously found on iPhone 3GS old-bootroms is corrected.
