What is MiWi?

When you say the term “MiWi” to someone it can have two meanings depending on the context: 1 – It can refer to the MiWi proprietary wireless protocol developed by Microchip Technology that are used for low-level wireless networking tasks, or 2 – More recently it is used to refer to the MiWi 4.0 and newer technologies used to make an Apple iPhone or iPad into a WiFi Hotspot. A classic frustration for iPhone and iPad users has been that in order to use the data that they are already paying for on the Apple devices, the phone companies almost force you to pay for multiple data connections. What most users desire, however, is to only pay for say their iPad to be connected via 3G or 4G connection and then to be able to share this connection with other devices they own. The MiWi 4.0 application allows you to do this.

What Platforms Does MiWi 4.0 Work On?

At the time of this writing, the current version of MiWi was 4.0. The application was redesigned to work on iOS 4 and lets users share the networking connection on a jail-broken iPhone (includes the 2G/3G/3GS/and 4G models) and iPad 3.1.2 or later.

What are the Features of MiWi 4.0?
