The iPodService.exe application is the iPod Hardware Management Services program installed by the Apple iTunes porgram. On older versions of the iTunes player, this program would be started by default and would then attempt to start MusicMatch Jukebox whenever the iPod was connected to the computer. The service will use 5MB or more of computer memory, however, which was not necessarily desirable by all computer users if they are solely connecting their iPod to the computer to charge the battery. In later versions of iTunes, the service is set to manual start and is only automatically started by the iTunesHelper application. A common problem that can arise for computer users, however, is getting an iPodService.exe alert message that they can not clear.
What Error Message Is Thrown With the iPodService.exe Alert?
When this error is thrown, you will see the following error message displayed on your computer: “Cannot delete iPodService.exe: It is being used by another person or program.” The message will commonly be displayed when attempting to delete the iPod folder while conducting a re-installation of the iTunes program.
Steps to Clear the iPodService.exe Alert
Step 1 – Close iTunes and the iPod Updater utility program.
Step 2 – Press “CTRL” + “ALT” + “DEL” simultaneously and then click the “Processes” menu tab.
Step 3 – Single click the “iPodService.exe” process and then choose the “End Process” menu button.
