How to Remove the MSN Live Messenger Virus

The MSN Picture virus is a term used to refer to the Windows Live Messenger Virus that is actually a computer worm. The method of infection for the worm is to get into your computer through vulnerabilities or infected files shared through the MSN or Windows Live Messenger programs. After the worm has infected your computer, it can be used to deliver malware payloads that can steal your chat history, passwords and other login information. How to Manually Remove the MSN Live Messenger Virus

Step 1

Restart your computer in Windows safe mode by depressing the “F8″ key during the normal rebooting process.

Open the Windows Control Panel by clicking the “Start,” “Settings” and “Control Panel” program icons.

Step 3

Click “Add/Remove Programs” located under Toolbar 888 if the application is present.

Step 4

Choose the “Start” menu followed by the “Search” icon. Conduct a search on each of the files separately and delete all instances found on your computer by entering the filename in the search dialog box followed by the “Enter” key:

Step 1

Restart your computer in Windows Safe Mode with Networking by depressing the “F8″ function key during the restart process. When prompted with a menu, choose the “Safe Mode with Networking” option followed by the “Enter” key.

Download the MSN Picture Virus removal program from, http://www.msnvirusremoval.com/download.php, and save to your computer’s desktop or an alternative location that is easy for you to remember. If you are using a MAC, there is a MAC specific tool located at: http://www.clamxav.com/.

Step 3

Run the MSN picture virus removal tool by double clicking the program icon. The program will ask you to choose a folder to save the scan log on the computer using a file chooser followed by selecting the “Ok” menu button.

Step 4

Restart your computer normally. After restart is complete, open your antivirus program and update the virus definitions by selecting the applicable control panel menu tab to help prevent additional malware infections.
