Spyware – MS Anti-Spyware Description

MS Anti-Spyware 2009 is one of the current generation of “fake” or “rogue” spyware programs that masquerade as legitimate anti-spyware programs. The primary goal of MS Anti-Spyware is to trick you into buying a paid version of the software which is really a guise to take your money and further infect your computer. MS Anti-Spyware uses a common technique of “Fake” anti-spyware programs by choosing names of companies that users are familiar with in order to appear legitimate when attempting to trick the end-user into downloading the paid version of the program

MS Anti-Spyware 2009 Payload

MS Anti-Spyware 2009 is normally spread as the payload of a Trojan Virus. The Zlob Trojan is one variant that is known to have been used to spread MS Anti-Spyware. Once downloaded to your computer, MS Anti-Spyware 2009 will display fake “Malware Detected” messages on your computer listing real viruses and other Spyware. Further complicating the removal of MS Anti-Spyware is that it does not use the same names of executable and support files so that manual removal becomes complex. It is also known to hide similar to a rootkit and resurrect itself via Windows restore if not removed properly.
