Description of Renos Trojan Virus
This is type of Trojan, which secretly downloads the malicious files from the distant server and it will install the files and execute them. This will download the rogueware, which will attempt to persuade the user in order to buy the particular rogue antispyware by pretending that the system is infected by the spyware. Renos might arrive into the system just as a part of other malware payload through the user-initiated download or through many other means.
Installation of Renos Malware
When the Trojan Renos is installed, it drops the ‘%WINDOWS%/system32/brastk.exe’ file into the system and later it creates the launch point for itself. Then the brastk.exe file will attempt to download the other files from the remote server.
Renos Trojan Virus Payload
On execution of this Trojan Renos, it will modify the registry keys so that it can bypass the windows firewall and then from the remote server it will download the rogue antispyware application and saves it accordingly. The file that will be saved is ‘%windir%\system32\winil104552502.exe’. The actual saving location of this file will vary depending upon the variant.
Upon execution, this Trojan will create a system tray icon subsequently and periodically will display messages such as
Your system is infected
Windows has detected the infection of spyware
It’s recommended to use the special antispyware so that data loss can be prevented
Now window will start to download the antispyware and click on the option to protect
By clicking on the message launches the application of downloaded rogue antispyware
