Win32.Alcan Computer Virus – Worm Description

The Alcan malware worm that infects your computer via transfers from peer to peer networks, such as music sharing programs and other p2p programs on the internet. It is a highly destructive Trojan that some anti-virus programs have difficulty combating.

When using a p2p, the infected person may be transferring data to your computer using one of the files that the worm is stored inside of. Once the download is complete the worm finds files that contain specific information, and attempts to further infect your system. Virus protection usually protects users from this, but its still possible for it to go undetected. The file copies itself to various filenames by downloading information from newcracks.net.

Interestingly enough, your system manager becomes locked and makes it next to impossible to remove the malware file. The w32/alcan is a sneaky virus that makes it difficult to run many things on your PC. It performs a complete modification of sensitive system settings and makes it difficult to perform a removal.

While downloading the win32alcan installs the malware files into the main system directory as hidden files. It does everything in the background, so you have to look deep into system files. It also drops files into specific areas which cause fake pop ups to appear when you attempt to load an infected program or file.
