W32.Bugbear Internet Worm Description
The W32.Bugbear is a virus. It belongs to subtype of internet worm. The W32.Bugbear was discovered in April 2003. The length of the virus is about 72,192 bytes. The risk factor is of medium level in both corporate users and home users cases.
A virus is a program that replicates itself many times and then infects many systems. The infection spread from one system to other system. Some viruses can be highly destructive for computer systems whereas some are not as they only replicate and infect but do not cause any further damage.
The W32.Bugbear is also known as Bugbear.B, PE_BUGBEAR.B, W32.BUGBEAR.B@mn, W32.KIJMO, W32.Shamur, etc.

W32.Bugbear Major features

The W32.bugbear is a complex virus. It consists of many elements like mass mailing, network share propagator, key logger, remote access Trojan, polymorphic parasitic file infector and security software terminator.

This virus has a characteristic feature that it emails itself to all the email addresses that are found on the local computer system. It steals these addresses from different files in the system. This is valid for both the sides’ i.e.  to side, o whom the mail is being addressed and the FROM side. The virus steals the address from the files having following strings- .DBX, .EML, INBOX, .NBX, .MMF, .NCH, .TBB, .ODS. The server that is set by default in the internet access account is being used to send these email messages. The email message being sent ahs the possible names of the files- announcements, bad news, and call for information, and click on this! , correction of errors, empty account, fantastic, free shipping, greets and many more. These are the generally types which any person will open to have a look.

The W32.Bugbear can be installed by getting copied on the START UP folder. It uses a random file to do so.
