W32.Banco description
The W32.Bancos family of viruses belongs to the family that is used to describe the family of viruses known as Trojans. These viruses have a common feature in them. This feature is that they make an attempt to steal the sensitive and private information. This information can then be used to have an illegal or unauthorized access to the accounts in bank. All this is possible because of the internet banking. The W32.Bancos is also known as W32.Bacos.PSW. They belong to the Trojan family. The words bancos are used as the main target of the virus are the Brazilian banks.
The first type of Bancos Trojan virus was discovered in 2003 and more and more are being discovered daily. Now, there are more than 2000 variants of the W32.Bancos.
How does the W32.Bancos Attack?
The bancos family mainly works as key loggers. They attack the WebPages and track the keystrokes that are entered by the user in the WebPages. Some other viruses of W32.Bancos family work by displaying the fake windows with the login page on them. They then capture the private information related to login details of the particular bank. This private information can then be used illegally. The W32.Bancos.L. Virus is mainly responsible for such attacks.
This information is then sent to the author of the Trojan with the help of email. It can also be uploaded with the help of FTP or HTTP to a remote server.
The W32.Bancos also functions in a way such that it doesn’t directly steal the private information. But it allows the other programs to do so. The W.32.Bancos also comes with the other programs that do the stealing of the information. The owner doesn’t recognize the presence of these Trojan viruses and the fact that the information is being stolen.
