W32.Bropia Computer Worm Description
The W.32Bropia is a type of virus. It belongs to subtype internet worm. The W.32bropia was discovered in March 2005. However the risk assessment is low for both corporate and home user. Viruses are programs that replicate themselves repeatedly. These programs infect the system and then replicate to infect one program to another. Many of the viruses carry a payload that can be highly destructive. However some viruses are not destructive except that they replicate from one system to other.
The W.32.Bropia.E, W.32.Bropia.J, and WORM_BROPIA.F are of similar kinds of viruses.
W32.Bropia Main features
The W.32.Bropia virus propagates in the system with the help of MSN messenger. The virus then drops its copy in the C: / directory. It can use file names like- new_webcam.pif, hot.pif, bedroom-thongs.pif, ROFL.pif, naked_drunk.pif , underware.pif, webcam.pif.
The W.32.Bropia worm also runs a key logger on the machine that it has infected. The virus can harvest or steal the data from the machine like passwords, account numbers etc.
The virus can also kill, browse or pause the program that you are currently running.
The symptoms include like a picture that can be displayed on your system and the picture can also get saved in your system.
There are two methods of infection by which the W.32.bropia can infect your computer system. The first method includes that it can be received as an attachment file with the MSN messenger itself. But with that the user must run the file or the program manfully such that the W.32.Bropia infects the system.
